Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there!
Having nothing to do with that, Tim Greiving, journalist extraordinaire, posted this film theme disco version to Twitter that I had never heard before.
Allegedly this is John Williams’ Black Sunday theme performed by Richie Rome featuring Sweet Inspirations, but I gotta say...I don’t even remember what the J.W. tune is.
Here’s another one from the same YouTube channel—“What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?” by Michel Legrand and the Bergmans.
Holy crap, featuring Legrand himself performing vocals!
And wait, it’s a medley of several Legrand film themes.
I guess we can call this YouTube channel, “Not by Request”?
Would you believe there were actually two disco versions of Jerry Goldsmith’s Alien? That score just screams “Make a disco cover of me, please”...right? Well, it was 1979.
Maybe it was the rainbow Nostromo logo?
See you tomorrow!
One hears such sounds, and what can one say but... "Richie Rome."
Whenever I hear tracks like this, I always imagine a dance routine by the Juul Haalmeyer Dancers from SCTV:
