Phone Addiction

I went to see a movie in a theater for the first time since before the pandemic. I took the kids to see The Little Mermaid, which they loved.
I was impressed with the cast but it’s not my kind of movie...and this isn’t a movie review.
I noticed that I was DYING to check my phone every few minutes—which, in a darkened theater, was inappropriate.
Like so many of us, I’m in the terrible habit of frequently checking my phone while watching a movie or TV show at home.
I was relieved when one of my girls dropped something and I had an excuse to turn on the phone and use its light to check the floor (and my email).
I’m so ashamed!
No, really—I resent what this gadget has done to my brain.
It's so true that phone addiction can have a significant impact on mental well-being. The constant need for connection and the pressure to stay updated can lead to increased anxiety and stress. In situations like these, seeking support becomes crucial. Anxiety treatment is essential for managing these effects, and places like the Canadian Centre for Addictions offer great options for those struggling with both addiction and mental health issues. With the right support and strategies, it's possible to regain control over technology use and reduce its negative impact on mental health. Taking that first step can make a huge difference.
This is the main reason why I seldom go to darkened movie theatres anymore, all those bright lights distracting from the viewing experience. If they don't care about cinema, why don't they just stay home?😠
I read this on my phone while sitting on the toilet.
