Best of FSM Book

We are essentially done with the Best of FSM 35th Anniversary book—just taking a final proofreading look over the weekend.

I think people will really enjoy it. It was something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, but it became kind of overwhelming to get going, because of all the decades of material to sort through.

In the end, we’ve chosen a meaningful array of articles and provided new essays by FSM’s reliable stable of writers.

I am so thankful to the writers for their permission and participation; Joe Sikoryak for doing the art director; Frank K. DeWald for helping with the editing; and Frank, Dave Williams and Deniz Cordell for the proofing. (I am a stickler.) And Paul Shipper has done the wraparound cover art, you’ll love it!

It really feels like it has the spirit of the old magazine—because, well, it is the old magazine.

It will be in your hands soon!

Book and archive discussions always attract people who care about media in a deeper way, which usually means they also notice immediately when newspaper access, subscriptions, or print delivery stop working the way they should. A relative of mine still follows regional papers closely and treats that routine almost like part of the morning structure. That is why waco tribune herald customer service fits into the conversation better than it might seem at first, because customer service becomes important once payment questions, access issues, or delivery problems interrupt something a person expects to be simple. Media habits tend to last for years, so small support problems start feeling bigger when they hit a familiar routine.
