We land in the J titles: We have a copy of the Varèse Encore edition of Jagged Edge by John Barry, one of his rare synthesizer scores, for the 1985 good legal thriller. $65
We have a James Bond collection of cover versions by Mike Boldt. I have never heard it so I don’t know if it’s good or terrible! But for the Bond completists, it’s $12.
We have a jazz/rock album that James Newton Howard did back in 1984, before his film career, James Newton Howard and Friends. It’s long out of print, $25.
We have the Silva Screen release of Jane Eyre (1971), one of John Williams’ loveliest works, from the pre-Jaws era, $20.
We have the excellent re-recording of Herrmann’s Jason on the Argonauts that Intrada produced, $18.
We have the first pressing Intrada did of Jaws (2CD set). Because it’s back in stock at Intrada, it’s only $30 here. (The price has fluctuated wildly based on availability.)
Jazz Goes to Hollywood is a nice album Fred Karlin produced of classic film themes given a jazz treatment, on Varèse Sarabande, $8.
Jazz in Film is a similarly conceived album, by Terence Blanchard, $5.
And Jean-Michel Bernard Plays Lalo Schifrin has some great jazz renditions of Lalo’s classic themes, $12.
We have a copy of the vintage Bay Cities Jerry Fielding Film Music 2 release (the green one). Although the headliner on this, Scorpio, has since been released in expanded form, the other two titles on it, Johnny Got His Gun and A War of Children, have not been, and probably never will be. And it features excellent liner notes by Nick Redman. Only $18.
We have the original Masters Film Music release of Jerry Goldsmith: Suites and Themes, a studio recording of Jerry Goldsmith’s concert program at the time (1980s), $45.
We had a bunch of sealed copies of Jim Henson’s The Storyteller 3CD set on Varèse (Rachel Portman), and now only one left: $45.
We have a copy of the Vol. 1 ($12) and Vol. 2 ($15) Joel Goldsmith collections from Dragon’s Domain. And from the same label, their John Ottman Collection, $18.
We have two copies of John Paul Jones/Parrish, the two Max Steiner albums on one CD, that we did at FSM, $18.
John Scott Conducts His Own Favorite Film Scores is a nice collection by the composer, released on his own label, $18.
John Wayne at Fox is a very nice tripleheader (on two discs) from Kritzerland, featuring the scores for The Comancheros, The Undefeated and North to Alaska, $35.
The Journey Inside is an exciting symphonic score by David Shire to an IMAX film. It quickly went out of print on Intrada, but we have a copy, $55.
Varèse Sarabande did a 500-copy reissue of Journey to the Center of the Earth by Herrmann, with different cover art. We have a sealed copy, $65.
We have a copy of the La-La Land Jurassic Park, $25. And we have a copy of the out of print collection of both Jurassic Park and The Lost World by Williams from La-La Land, for $95.
We also have several copies of Jurassic World by Giacchino, $45.
Back tomorrow with the K titles! And remember, Tuesday morning, 10/1/24, 10AM, we go live with a “mini sale” of over 100 new CDs plus rare film music books.
