A friend, who shall remain nameless, just let me know about a 45rpm single that Clint Eastwood recorded of “Burning Bridges” from Lalo Schifrin’s score to Kelly’s Heroes. I had no idea this existed!
Golden throats, indeed!
But it’s actually way better than I thought it would be—and Clint sings in a higher register (and with more musicality) than I would expect. Maybe the musical part isn’t a surprise, given how involved he is in scoring his own films.
It’s funny but I had an expectation he would sing in a low voice—but his voice isn’t really low, it’s just that he’s famous for acting with an angry, grouchy whisper. But he probably speaks in the whisper because his voice isn’t as powerful or deep as he would like. Huh!
I did notice they bury Clint’s voice in the mix during the chorus. Still, he can carry a tune.
I remember an interview with Clint and he said he loved music especially jazz
