FSM Forever!

ree

We are almost done with the Best of Film Score Monthly 35th Anniversary book, which was part of our Kickstarter (and will be made available to everybody to purchase after the donors receive it). Just some final proofreading remains.

Editing it was a vibrant trip down memory lane, but one thing really blew my mind: the CDs we reviewed in the earliest issues. They were, not kidding, things like the original Twin Peaks, Home Alone and Dances With Wolves.

Dances With Wolves! When it was brand new, really? Wow. (We loved it.)

I was like, how is this possible? Those are classics from my childhood. And, well, I was a teenager who created a magazine about movie music.

Since that time—1990—there has been a continuous publication of FSM, first on hardcopy (through 2005), and then online. There’s actually been a LONGER publication online (20 years this year).

So, the pitch—yeah, this is a sales pitch. To keep FSM Online going, we need all our subscribers to migrate to the new payment system.

Here is the info from editor Jon Kaplan:

FSMO November Issue

Good news, everyone! The November Issue of FSMO is now available ONLINE on the new Wordpress filmscoremonthly.com site. However, there is always a catch! In order to access it, you will first need to “re-subscribe,” as it were.

In hopes of making things as simple for you as possible under the circumstances, we have prepared this set of instructions. As part of the process, some of you may have to re-enter your details — and at minimum, all of you will need to re-input your credit card info (for security reasons, this could not be ported from one site to the other).

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ACCESSING FSMO ON THE NEW SITE

First off, and this is important: **The new FSM site operates under a unified login system. This means that your wordpress/message board/FSMO login will be one and the same. If you are are signed up on the message board through one email and the magazine through a different email, you will need to choose which one you want to continue with. If you have a long history on the board and want to maintain that, obviously you may choose to keep using that associated email.

To choose your email/password, go here: https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/fsmo-account/

Enter your preferred email address to use across ALL OF FSM, including the magazine, and then enter your password. If it works, great. If not, please use the “Lost Your Password” link to reset it. In many cases, old FSMO passwords will not work, as they have been overridden by message board passwords.

Once you have your desired email/password combo, either click “Subscribe” in the Top nav bar at FSMO, or go here: https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/subscribe/

Click “Add to cart” under “FSM Online - Monthly Subscription.”

If you get an error message “You cannot add another subscription to your cart,” simply click “View cart” to the right.

Inside the cart, select the $7.95 subscription, which will not be charged until Dec. 4 (for the December issue). You have already paid for the November issue. Then click “Proceed to Checkout.”

You are likely already logged in with your desired credentials, but if they are not showing, please input them in the “Returning customer? Click here to login!” section.

Then, please fill out the requested fields below, including mailing address and credit card info.

Finally, hit “Place order.”

With that, you should be all set to access the entirety of the site — including FSM Online — all under one login/pw combo!

This month’s issue can be reached at the “FSM Online” button in the top nav bar here:

The magazine is still a work in progress, but great strides have been made over the past month, with more to come. We will keep you informed in the coming days.

For now, we cannot thank you enough for your understanding throughout this transitional phase, and we hope you are able to enjoy the November issue as we continue to get fully up and running again.

We’re already seeing subscribers sign up at the new site, so thank you and let’s keep it going!

Also, for all the people who donated to the Kickstarter and got free months as part of their package—we will be installing those in the coming weeks. Promise!

More to come. Thank you!
