FSMCDs New Interface

ree

Our used film music CDs store, www.fsmcds.com, has undergone a much-needed face lift by our new web programmers (the same guys now fixing the FSM site and message board, funded by our recent Kickstarter). It’s live now, so please check it out.

They have also vastly improved the back-end architecture so it shouldn’t slow to a pathetic crawl when more than two people try to use it. I’m not very technical about these things, but basically they removed some plug-ins that were draining too much memory, and wrote custom code to accomplish the same thing.

You’ll also find some way better navigation tools to go through our inventory—hopefully so good I no longer also have to offer a Google spreadsheet of the stock.

I would like to use today to have people test-drive the new site and report any bugs. And when those are resolved, we have some new stuff to post: around 50 CDs (including a lot of rare collector editions), 200 CDRs and a half dozen signed and framed LPs.

The CDRs are Intrada founder Douglass Fake’s personal discs that he made for private use: transfers to rare and obscure LPs, sometimes the full audio (including dialogue and FX) from laserdiscs, occasionally pre-release copies of official albums. He put them in his own packaging, typically colored paper where he meticulously listed the recording credits and audio sources.

We’ve had these on hand for several months but needed some time to go through them and remove the super-secret things that would be inappropriate to sell. (Sorry, folks.)

So you won’t find any awesome contraband, but Doug had an incredible collection and there are some gems in here from vinyl that have never made their way to an official CD.

The signed LPs come from the collection of Karl Scott (whose CDs I have been selling for a year now) and including several authentic Jerry Goldsmith signatures.

I would like to post the new list as soon as tomorrow (Wednesday) but I don’t want heavy traffic until the revised site is ready. You can help by reporting any bugs on the new site, or even things that are just confusing/awkward and need work. Please email me at LukasKendallMV@gmail.com.

I’ll keep you all posted. Thanks!
