Thanks for all your purchases from FSMCDs.com this week! Thousands of items still in stock, here is an updated spreadsheet.
Here’s an update I just posted to Kickstarter:
THANK YOU!
We’re one week into our 30-day campaign and have reached the halfway point of our initial goal of $45,000 to record James Horner’s early 1980s TV movie scores, A Few Days in Weasel Creek, Angel Dusted and A Piano for Mrs. Cimino—thank you!
Want to watch these obscure movies, and hear the scores in context? Links on my blog.
So it’s looking good to record these three scores (a little over 50 minutes of music). I have my eyes on a stretch goal that would be FABULOUS: Horner’s 1985 episode of Shelley Duvall’s Faerie Tale Theatre, “The Pied Piper of Hamelin,” which was Horner’s little-known third collaboration with writer/director Nicholas Meyer (after Star Trek II and Volunteers).
We need to research the exact cost, but it’ll be an appropriate chunk of the money beyond the $45K, and this stretch goal is my real personal target. I hope we can get there!
Just a few words to introduce who we are and what we do. Probably most people reading this already know, but here it is anyway: I am Lukas Kendall, and as a teenager, I LOVED movie scores, and I created the newsletter that became Film Score Monthly—the magazine, website and CD label.
Last year, we ran a successful Kickstarter to update our website—which worked! We refreshed our online subscription magazine, FSM Online, published a 35th anniversary book (pick it up at Amazon), and released a CD of Ray Ellis’ music to Filmation shows like Star Trek: The Animated Series and Flash Gordon.
I have also been operating a used CDs store, www.fsmcds.com. We take collections on consignment and make them available at low prices! I’ve been using as much of the proceeds as I can to continue our website improvements. So please check out the store, as I’m sure you’ll find some CDs of interest among our thousands of items. (Interested in selling your collection, or part of it? Email me: LukasKendallMV@gmail.com.)
If you want to follow me personally, as well as updates for FSMCDs.com and this Kickstarter, see my daily blog.
Film music has always been a special passion for me. I love the storytelling, the personalities, the emotions—and, of course, the music!
It’s a great privilege to be able to serve our community, and thank you for being there to keep it going. More to come!
Lukas
