I am enjoying the new season of Picard. The first episode opens with the above card, which is an homage, of course, to Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan:
As I recall, director Nicholas Meyer added this to explain to his dad, who he knew (in the audience) would be wondering when the story took place. It was the first time Star Trek specified the time period; before that, fans weren’t quite sure.
