Kickstarter Ends Thursday Night

All right, home stretch! We are on our way to making the $50K stretch goal and THANK YOU all for your support.

We are already building the new website and message board—and FSMOnline. It is happening! And now it looks like we’ll have the flexibility to make sure it’s implemented the way people want and find most useful.

That’s really what the extra money is for—so that once the site is up and running, if people say the same thing (about adding this or that, or enhancing something) we’ll have some money in reserve to do it.

Because I’ve been down this road many times: the tech guys say, “So in order to do what you really want, we’ve determined we need to buy X and Y plug-ins, and then it’ll be 20 hours to program...”

There’s an extent to which I can hold them to their bid—but also an extent to which, to get the job done properly (and be fair to the contractor), I need to pay them more money.

Want to know something that the money will NOT be used for? Well, here is the current state of our family’s living room...

I would love to rent an office for FSMCDs.com to house all these CDs—but I’m not going to do it!

It’s too expensive and too risky, given that I never know more than a month or two in advance what collections are coming in to sell. I can’t commit to a lease like that.

(And yes, my wife and kids are very forgiving about this! Fortunately we all have our space elsewhere in the house and we’re making do. So I’m not looking for sympathy here. We’re fine, really!)

I feel very lucky to have been born with “the pragmatism gene” (not really a thing, but you get the point), and it’s help me keep FSM going for a long time.

So thank you all for your contributions, and if you have been meaning to make one towards the end of the campaign—well, here we are!

Also a special thank you to Joe Sikoryak, who made our 35th anniversary graphics (and all FSM graphics since 1997!) and has been spreading the word online.

Exciting times! Truly thankful for everybody’s support.

Idk if this has been asked already but would any money from the kickstarter be used to improve the fsmcds website?

I do need to spend money to improve the FSMCDs website and I plan to do that out of the revenue that FSMCDs generates. The Kickstarter money will be spent on the FSM site proper, on the anniversary projects and FSM Online coverage—what the campaign advertises.
