Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

Thumbs up for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the newest Game of Thrones spinoff/prequel from HBO.

I didn’t even know this was coming, or what it was based on. I saw a listing and thought, hey that looks like a Game of Thrones ripoff.

The creators have wisely “gone small” and very successfully so, with a character-based story about a wannabe knight and his unusual squire. It recaptures the feeling of the early Game of Thrones seasons, with the lived-in world and medieval humanity.

In lieu of Ramin Djawadi, there is music by Dan Romer, and it’s very well done.

I read the post about Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and it felt like a fun dive into a world of courage, stories and old kingdoms that make you imagine big adventures. When I once had too much school work and had to outsource product description writing for a mock assignment, I tried to explain the setting and characters so others could picture the world too, and that wasn’t as easy as I thought. It reminded me that good writing helps others feel the magic of a story even before they read it.

I read the post about Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and it really reminded me how much depth and history a rich story can have even before the main tale begins, kind of like discovering a secret chapter that changes how you see everything. When I was finishing my own applications I used UCAS personal statement editing because my first draft was messy and needed work to be clear before I sent it in. That taught me that careful editing makes your voice stronger and easier to follow.
