I was looking through the few boxes of VHS tapes I have left to see what I can get rid of, or donate to pals who might have more use for them than I do...and I came across a tape marked, “Lookwell.” Oh wow, does this bring back fond memories!
I wondered, “That must be on YouTube by now, right?” And yes, it is.
You guys have to see this, if you haven’t already. It’s a 1991 pilot (by Robert Smigel and Conan O’Brien) that never went to series starring Adam West as a clueless ex-TV detective who tries to help the actual police. It’s comedy genius. More here.
I can’t imagine this gag sustaining an entire series—but it is brilliant, and I love it.
