Rare Film Music Books

We have added a very nifty collection of film music books, including a lot of autographed copies and rare first editions. They start on this page of the store. Or search by category and get the list of only books.

The cream of the crop is a copy of Mancini’s autobiography with Gene Lees, Did They Mention the Music? which was Christopher Palmer’s personal copy and inscribed by Mancini himself. See the pic above: “To Chris, You’ve been such a great help to me on the Tom + Jerry score. Best—Hank. 14 June 92. London.”

We also have other books that were in the personal libraries of Palmer and the great film historian Tony Thomas.

Here is a complete spreadsheet of our current inventory. This one is not arranged with new stuff first. We’ve added some more DVDs, a handful of CDs as well as the rare books, but I apologize, I didn’t remember to save things that I need in a certain way in order to present the new items separately.

Thank you for shopping and all your support!

Collectors and media fans tend to care about small details more than casual readers ever notice, especially when printed material carries nostalgia along with it. Someone in my family still enjoys flipping through old entertainment content instead of only reading everything on a screen, and that habit makes them unusually opinionated about what feels worth keeping around. In conversations like that, tv guide magazine reviews lands naturally because reviews help show whether the experience still feels enjoyable for regular readers or only sounds appealing in memory. A publication can have name recognition for years, though actual day-to-day satisfaction is what decides whether it remains part of somebody’s routine.
