I have to hand it to creators of A.I. “actress” Tilly Norwood on getting a ton of press. A lot of it is negative, but that kind of thing tends not to matter.
The A.I. tech is growing exponentially in terms of ability—though I still just don’t like the look of it.
There’s such a freak-out in the creative community about A.I. (for good reason) that adopting or endorsing it would be a death wish.
I have thought from the start that all this A.I. moviemaking would be a lot like what synthesizers did to orchestral film music—which is to say, basically replaced it. It’s so much cheaper that how could it not? For ads, television and the like, nobody can afford to use an orchestra, and why bother when nobody would really care?
That is, except for the high-end of creators—for them, there is still no substitute for live musicians.
So I can easily see A.I. being used for social media and advertising, but there will always be “real” film and television made with real actors.
I mean, why do people still watch sporting events? Because it’s real.
