Trailer Scores

There’s a thread at the FSM board that really took me back—to the days when we would get seemingly endless inquiries about “what was that music in that trailer?”

I totally had blanked on this. It feels like it stopped maybe 15-20 years ago. But it used to be commonplace that trailers would use music from previous movies—and often big movies—and fans would scramble to figure out what it was.

There’s a post in the thread that explains how licensing costs and other business and creative concerns changed the practice.

But funny how I had totally forgotten!
