7 Days to Go

It’s the final week of our FSM 35th Anniversary Kickstarter and of this morning we’re knocking on $40K. I am trying to get to the stretch goal of $50,000.
This is because I know how web programming goes, you always need more of it...and I know my own personality. It will drive me crazy to leave anything incomplete, and I’ll put my own money to get it done right—but I’ve got a family now and can’t be doing that!
So I’m going to look back three months from now and think about that first week in July, if only I had written one more email, or reached out to one other website...would I have another two grand to make the site that much cooler?!?
I know I say this often, but I never take any of this for granted: Thank you, truly, for choosing to spend your hard-earned money on our campaign!
I’ve also been thinking about the Best of FSM book we’ll put together, what pieces to choose and what angle to take. There have been so many books about film music by now, and personally I can’t wait for Tim Greiving’s John Williams biography.
But I think we have the opportunity to make one about film music fandom as much as film music itself—the shared experiences of discovering it and collecting it and being fascinated by it. That’s the eye of the storm we’ve been in for 35 years.
From day one of making the FSM newsletter, back in the day, I noticed how the concerns of fans were so different from the composers and industry personnel I was excited to meet. I always hoped to make a publication that catered to both audiences, but it proved to be enormously difficult.
I guess we’re still trying!
In other news, the FSMCDs.com is back up and running, thanks for purchasing from our new sale yesterday. Here is an updated spreadsheet of the available inventory.
Thank you, everybody!
