CDs Still in Stock

Above: Arthur B. Rubinstein.

I’m always interested in which CDs sell quickly. Most of the time it’s the “hot” titles: the in-demand collectables. But sometimes there’s just no predicting it.

Here are a number of CDs we have in stock at our store that I would expect to be of interest—or just things I really like, and this is a fun excuse to write about them!

3 Days of the Condor/The Friends of Eddie Coyle: One of the last FSM CDs we produced, and one of my favorites! Prime 1970s Grusin. Used copy, only $20.

Africa (Alex North): Curiously, we have three copies of this, each listed at $12. I remember it mostly because Varèse Sarabande erroneously recorded the main title as the “Entr’Acte” from 2001, because it was in the folder of scores that Alex North gave them. Good stuff and I thought it would sell!

Antony and Cleopatra (John Scott): We have a copy of the first edition John Scott released. One of my favorites of his work! Just $10.

Arthur B. Rubinstein 2CD promo: We have two copies of this one, here and here. We’re asking $55 for each—wait, I just made that $45! This was a big deal when it came out and has so many great tracks. My favorite is the jazzy score to Friedkin’s obscure Deal of the Century. I really recommend this one.

Big Wednesday: A used copy for only $18. One of Basil Poledouris’ best.

Birdman of Alcatraz (Varèse): Only $25 for one of the long-out-of-print Varèse Bernstein titles. Beautiful!

The Blue Max (La-La Land): Only $25 for this comprehensive version of one of Jerry Goldsmith’s best. The Goldsmith stuff always sells fast! Or check out the Sony Legacy version from the 1990s for $5.

Bond stuff: These always sell! So I’m surprised we still have them: We have the 2CD set Best of James Bond 30th Anniversary from the early 1990s, which was such a big deal for the unreleased songs. Only $10. We also have the two re-recorded Silva Screen “Bond Back in Action,” though Vol. 1 is missing the booklet, so only $1. Vol. 2 is intact and listed at $8. Both were a big deal at the time for recording unreleased cues.

Brainstorm: Classic early Horner. Only $15.

Braveheart—La-La Land expanded, their first version. We had it listed for $75 but I see somebody has it on eBay for $65. So ours is now $60, grab it quick!

Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia: We have two copies of the expanded Quartet at $45, here and here. LOVE this Jerry Fielding score.

The Burbs: We have two copies of the expanded Varèse edition of this Goldsmith/Dante collaboration, here and here. I have lowered them each to $35.

This takes a while to type out, with all the links! So I’ll leave it here, and resume with the Cs and Ds tomorrow.

I’m sure a lot of people agree with me about these titles, because they already have them! Feel free to add your thoughts in the comments.

Thank you!
