I’ve had introductory calls with web programming companies about overhauling the FSM site, but the biggest problem is that it’s built on an obsolete platform, Cold Fusion.
Any experts out there might be willing to help?

Sadly no. CF stil exists, Adobe still has an editor for that it seems. In any case I would recommend to split any future new site into two parts: the site itself and the forum. And run both with separate independent systems and generally open source tools. For exampe the site with something like WordPress and for forums still some open source tools are available. The main problem will be to map the existing data to any new system. How is the data stored? Some MySQL database or something else?
