Douglass Fake CD Sale Is LIVE

Updated: Apr 1

Above: Jerry Goldsmith and Douglass Fake, late 1980s. I am sure this belongs to Intrada. I don’t think they would mind me using it today.

UPDATE 10:30: Now I see the site is in scheduled maintenance. Nobody told me and their office is closed. I am going to bed and hope never have a day like this again! I assume we will have a website tomorrow to take your orders...

UPDATE 10:10PM Pacific: OMG what a day. Folks I am so sorry. The site is working normally now and I hope people can find CDs that they want. I will be back tomorrow...we have a ton of packing to do. I want to post this note mainly to say that I’ve got to go to bed now, so if there are any emergencies, I’ll try to help first thing upon waking.

UPDATE 3:47: Site is active. If you had items in your cart already, please go straight to check out and purchase so you don’t lose them! We can always combine with any subsequent orders. What a morning—so truly sorry.

UPDATE 3PM: Well this is not how I hoped the day would go. The web company is waiting for the hosting company to put the site on a larger server on an emergency basis so we can conduct the sale.

I know people are asking about the shopping carts as the six-hour exclusivity time is rapidly approaching. Unfortunately I cannot extend that time without deleting all the cart contents—yay. But here’s the thing:

1) NOBODY can use the site right now—even me. So nobody will buy your items before you!

2) The carts’ exclusivity period is six hours but after that, the items are STILL in your cart, they just can be purchased by others.

So once we get up and running—I will do my best to give people a heads-up—if the first thing you do is CHECK OUT and buy whatever is in your cart, you should be OK. And then if you want to shop some more and place another order, I can combine and refund the excess shipping.

That’s the best I can do. Hating all of this right now. But I still love the music—and I still love YOU GUYS so hang in there.

UPDATE 1:30PM: The web company is still at work trying to get the site up again. They are working with the hosting company to handle the traffic. The admin login screen you may see is not for you as a customer, but the admin guys. If there’s one consolation, be assured nobody can order anything while the site is down. I don’t even have admin access to reserve anything for folks. What a nightmare. So sorry.

UPDATE 11:50AM: The hosting company is all-hands-on-deck to get us live again. So that you know, the current screen you get when you try to reach www.fsmcds.com asking for your account name and password is not for YOUR account. It is a website admin thing. That’s how much we crashed the site today! More updates asap. A thousand apologies...

UPDATE 11:30AM: The site is down while the hosting company tries to make it work. A thousand apologies. Updates asap.

UPDATE 11:10AM: The hosting company put up the “login” screen just to try to stabilize the site. It is perfectly safe. They are working to fix the site. More updates asap.

UPDATE 11AM: I spent thousands of dollars with the hosting company to optimize the site to handle the traffic for the sale and it clearly crashed like instantly, and has left everybody anxious and upset. I cannot tell you how sorry I am and how frustrated I am. I have nothing to report right now except that I cannot even get onto the site myself. I will update everybody asap.

ALERT 9:59AM—Already the site has slowed to a crawl. I will write the hosting company but not sure what we can do...argh!!!!

The Douglass Fake CD collection is now LIVE at www.fsmcds.com.

Here is a spreadsheet of the available inventory as 10AM this morning, 3/31/25. (The spreadsheet is easier to sort and browse than the actual site, but it does NOT update as people buy things.)

FAQ

1) If you see a title on the spreadsheet but it’s not coming up at www.fsmcds.com, that means somebody else bought it (or it’s in their cart to buy).

2) Carts hold your title exclusively for you for six hours. After that they will still be in your cart, but somebody else can buy them too.

3) Please make an account and/or log in before you shop so items stay in your cart!

4) If the site is slowing to a crawl, it’s just from all the traffic. There’s nothing I can do except be terribly embarrassed and apologize—but it will clear up, I promise.

5) If you have any special packing requests or customs instructions, put it in the special notes field, or email me: LukasKendallMV@gmail.com.

6) Feel free to place multiple orders, we will always combine for shipping (and refund any excess shipping charges) if the first order hasn’t gone out (unless instructed not to do so)—and we’ll be so busy this week, it will take at least a few days to start shipping.

And of course I am thinking of Doug today, missing him and remembering our projects and conversations. His passion for and knowledge of our favorite music made him a fixture in my life for many decades. And now his collection is my living room...but not for long.

I will be back here to post any updates—and boy do I hope the site doesn’t crash!

Thank you everybody! Always reach out to me with any issues: LukasKendallMV@gmail.com.

I had the Ron Jones Project in my cart at one point. I've been trying so hard to get that. Whoever got it better enjoy it. -___-

As with last time, I just got a gateway error the instant the sale went live and couldn't even log in at all for hours. If this is the result of your spending thousands for improved server capacity/web hosting, Lukas, I think you should sue the vendors.

Pursuing remuneration is one way, although if I were in your shoes I'm not sure I'd have any faith in more assurances coming from the same people who've already proven inept. Litigation would enable the pursuit of damages in addtion to compensation, and don't discount that--you have suffered provable damages in the marketplace, financially and reputationally, and that's compensable. At any rate, you are certainly not getting what you've paid for, and they need to be held accountable. Name 'em and shame 'em!

Well it was worth the frustration. Purchased 37 CDs including many I had been trying to get for quite some time.

I feel your pain, Lukas. Respect for all your hard work and it will all work out. I know it will. Amazing that you're doing this, with the investments to make it go smoothly. Unforseen things happen. Keep it up! Greetings, Johan

Truly sorry for the drama today. I spent the month with the hosting company preparing and it was a total fail. A thousand apologies.
