I thought Big Little Lies (the first season) and Sharp Objects on HBO were among the best-directed shows I’d ever seen. He directed every episode of those.
There are good directors for performance, good directors for camera, and good directors for storytelling. He was all three—and so stylish, to boot.
He was only 58. So sad.
