Let’s hear it for the “white slavers,” as George jokingly called Disney after selling them Lucasfilm (and had to walk it back afterwards, so much fun): they have restored the original Star Wars Trilogy, without all the dumb changes, for theatrical re-release in 2027. And I’m sure for Disney+ afterwards.

So strange—I feel like it was just yesterday that we were going to see the Special Editions. The new VFX were amazing, but pretty much all of the editorial/content changes were bizarrely awful. So now it’s full circle?
The extras didn't make the movies better. They just had MORE. The additions to the climax of EMPIRE were useless, aimed at people who need everything spelled out for them.
Now, if they will kindly put it out on Blu-ray (or 4K, or some kind of disc) so we can acquire it and The Empire Strikes Back in its original form, I can finally die.
Yes, I am one of THOSE PEOPLE who never saw the Specious Editions . . . sorry, special editions . . . of the Star Wars original trilogy. Yes, I even walked out of the final 15 minutes or so of Return of the Jedi because my niece announced she was about to vomit and besides, it was such an unbalanced, obvious merchandising cash grab of a movie with no character development or ending, I knew I wasn't missing out on anything important anyway. …
