Website Update

Many thanks to everybody who bought from FSMCDs.com this week as we launched a new sale. Here’s a spreadsheet of the current inventory.

I know the message board often slows to a crawl. It has to do with the “bots” that trawl it from all over the world. I can’t stand it but it’s just the modern Internet, apparently.

Our current programmer is moving on so we’re in the process of getting somebody new. I put an ad on Upwork and holy crap, I was inundated in pitches. So we’re making a comprehensive road map and “wish list” to get bids.

I want to make clear what an amazing job our outgoing programmer has done. When we faced the end of our old website—built with an obsolete programming language, and with our webmaster retiring—it seemed like there was no way to save 25 years’ worth of board posts. We got bids from some firms to do it for like $80K. But our guy did it for the portion allocated to him from the Kickstarter. Truly amazing!

So now that everything is migrated, we’ll get a new person to fix the remaining problems, and we’re also working on a new design for the home page, and a way to search FSM Online so that our 35 years’ worth (!) of content is more searchable and accessible.
