Jeanne Jones S-T-U Titles
UPDATE: There was a problem this morning where the cart exclusivity (six hours) was not working. So people found items disappearing from their carts. This has been fixed. However, the fix is not retroactive. If you have something in your cart and you want it, please buy it asap. We always, as a matter of S.O.P., combine multiple orders to save on shipping. I can’t tell you how embarrassed and sorry I am that we have had these tech problems. You guys are such great customers a

As we continue to sell the CD collection of our late friend Jeanne Jones—the next batch of titles go on sale tomorrow at 10AM Pacific / 1PM Eastern—I’ve received a few inquiries about her very significant LP collection. Horner TV Movies Links
Our James Horner Kickstarter is finishing week one—now the real work begins, the middle weeks where donations slow down, we’ll be stepping up outreach to meet our goal. I was happy to be a guest on the Pop Culture Classics podcast with Greg Ehrbar, which is now live wherever great podcasts are heard, like Spotify. Some of you have been curious what these ancient TV movies actually are. It’s pretty easy to find two of them on YouTube: Angel Dusted (complete with vintage ads):

FSMCDs on the Move
Today is the day we get 10K CDs out of my house! Wish us luck. We have rented a small office space around 20 minutes south and we start the move...in an hour! But I don’t want to take focus away from our James Horner Kickstarter campaign. Please support if you have not done so! Thanks!

Horner Kickstarter Day One
Thank you all for a great first day to our Kickstarter to record James Horner's early 1980s TV movie scores: A Few Days in Weasel Creek, Angel Dusted and A Piano for Mrs. Cimino. The way these campaigns work, you typically raise 1/3rd of your ask in the first few days, 1/3rd in the middle, and 1/3rd in the last few days. So with a $45K goal and almost $15K after a day, we’re in a good place. I am really hoping we can add stretch goals, like Faerie Tale Theatre, so I want to s

FSMCDs on the Move
Thanks to everybody who bought from yesterday’s sale ! We are packing and shipping the rest of the week. Thousands of goodies still in stock! Here is an updated spreadsheet . And...we’re on the move! The CDs are bursting out of our house so we found the rare affordable L.A. office space. Here’s a little video we shot where I talk about it (don’t get your hopes up for any real entertainment): We’ll be moving next week so yeah, anything we can ship to YOU instead of lugging to

Jeanne Jones L-R CDs
UPDATE 3PM Pacific: The site should be running at normal speed. There was a lot of bot traffic slowing things down, and some settings that needed to be reconfigured. I delayed sending out the email blast until these were resolved. There are already several hundred items from the spreadsheet that have sold. Remember, sales are every other Tuesday at 10AM Pacific (in this case, 11AM, because the items uploaded slowly). Thanks!!! UPDATE: Site is slow, I know. When plug-ins and a

Book Promotion
I must have gotten on some mailing list because I recently received “offers” from some places to interview me and promote The Best of Film Score Monthly . I said, sure...but as I suspected, this was all a prelude to ask me for money. And some of these places seem to be, or claim to be, afilliated with the BBC and legit outlets. Weird! The emails are very pushy and look written by A.I. Even when I said, hey can you send me an email that seems written by a human please, I just

Tuesday Sale
Everything’s on track for the Tuesday sale (4/14, 10AM Pacific, 1PM Eastern) and I’ve even managed to get the R titles listed. So we have copies of the original Varèse Sarabande RoboCop both with the barcode, and without—I didn’t even realize!

Diamonds Are Forever
I’ve been so busy I didn’t take a moment to say how much I enjoyed the new La-La Land Diamonds Are Forever CD . More magnificent work from the team! Finally the long version of the title song can be heard—we had it way back in 2003 but the label and studio were unwilling to try to clear Bassey’s vocal on our tight schedule. A John Barry classic!

And we’ve started a new feature, Collector Spotlights, to profile people who have spent so much of their lives loving and collecting film music. The first installment profiles our friend Henry Stanny, written by Chris Hadley, check it out ! Do you have a long history with film musi

Pre-Announcing Our Next Kickstarter
Time to commit ourselves to our next Kickstarter, which I am planning now: A recording of previously unreleased James Horner TV movie scores from the early 1980s! That’s right, it’s FSM’s first recording project, in conjunction with Leigh Phillips, whose work I admire so much, and the fine folks at Neumation Music who are invaluable with the music research and prep. Can you guess the three scores we’re looking at? I am building the campaign now.

Star Wars Sequels
As I wrote before, I’ve been rewatching the Star Wars films by showing one of my daughters (she asked to see them). We got to the sequels and at one point she asked, “Do these movies make you angry?” I think she was responding to my grumpy answer to one of her questions about who was who and what was what. I think the only fair thing to say is that there are some things that disappoint me, and probably disappoint most fans, mostly having to do with the change of directors an

Black Sunday Piano Score
What a time to be alive! A quintessential John Williams 1970s disaster/cue faithfully transcribed and performed on piano by Harrison Ingemarson: Always loved this piece, recycled in to the tracked end credits. Harrison also did this propulsive gem by Goldsmith recently: Always amazing to see the scores from these master composers, and find out the notes are simpler than you think—or I think, anyway. (I’m not very good!)
