FSMCDs on the Move
Thanks to everybody who bought from yesterday’s sale ! We are packing and shipping the rest of the week. Thousands of goodies still in stock! Here is an updated spreadsheet . And...we’re on the move! The CDs are bursting out of our house so we found the rare affordable L.A. office space. Here’s a little video we shot where I talk about it (don’t get your hopes up for any real entertainment): We’ll be moving next week so yeah, anything we can ship to YOU instead of lugging to

Jeanne Jones L-R CDs
UPDATE 3PM Pacific: The site should be running at normal speed. There was a lot of bot traffic slowing things down, and some settings that needed to be reconfigured. I delayed sending out the email blast until these were resolved. There are already several hundred items from the spreadsheet that have sold. Remember, sales are every other Tuesday at 10AM Pacific (in this case, 11AM, because the items uploaded slowly). Thanks!!! UPDATE: Site is slow, I know. When plug-ins and a

Book Promotion
I must have gotten on some mailing list because I recently received “offers” from some places to interview me and promote The Best of Film Score Monthly . I said, sure...but as I suspected, this was all a prelude to ask me for money. And some of these places seem to be, or claim to be, afilliated with the BBC and legit outlets. Weird! The emails are very pushy and look written by A.I. Even when I said, hey can you send me an email that seems written by a human please, I just

Tuesday Sale
Everything’s on track for the Tuesday sale (4/14, 10AM Pacific, 1PM Eastern) and I’ve even managed to get the R titles listed. So we have copies of the original Varèse Sarabande RoboCop both with the barcode, and without—I didn’t even realize!

Diamonds Are Forever
I’ve been so busy I didn’t take a moment to say how much I enjoyed the new La-La Land Diamonds Are Forever CD . More magnificent work from the team! Finally the long version of the title song can be heard—we had it way back in 2003 but the label and studio were unwilling to try to clear Bassey’s vocal on our tight schedule. A John Barry classic!

New FSMOnline
The new April issue of FSM Online is now live at our site . We continue to make improvements in every way: navigation, fixing broken links, enabling “teaser” intros of articles for non-subscribers. And we’ve started a new feature, Collector Spotlights, to profile people who have spent so much of their lives loving and collecting film music. The first installment profiles our friend Henry Stanny, written by Chris Hadley, check it out ! Do you have a long history with film musi

Horner Kickstarter
I was pleased to see the reaction to yesterday’s announcement about our imminent Kickstarter to record early James Horner TV movie scores. Yes, A Few Days at Weasel Creek will be on there! I appreciate the message board conversation —I’m reading it!

Pre-Announcing Our Next Kickstarter
Time to commit ourselves to our next Kickstarter, which I am planning now: A recording of previously unreleased James Horner TV movie scores from the early 1980s! That’s right, it’s FSM’s first recording project, in conjunction with Leigh Phillips, whose work I admire so much, and the fine folks at Neumation Music who are invaluable with the music research and prep. Can you guess the three scores we’re looking at? I am building the campaign now.

Star Wars Sequels
As I wrote before, I’ve been rewatching the Star Wars films by showing one of my daughters (she asked to see them). We got to the sequels and at one point she asked, “Do these movies make you angry?” I think she was responding to my grumpy answer to one of her questions about who was who and what was what. I think the only fair thing to say is that there are some things that disappoint me, and probably disappoint most fans, mostly having to do with the change of directors an

Tenet Video
I wish I understood Tenet . It hurts my head. This video tried to help: I’m still struggling. I do think it’s time to retire the “good guys have to help the bad guys achieve their goals in order to trick them into thinking they’ve succeeded so they really lose” plot. That last Mission: Impossible movie did it in.

Black Sunday Piano Score
What a time to be alive! A quintessential John Williams 1970s disaster/cue faithfully transcribed and performed on piano by Harrison Ingemarson: Always loved this piece, recycled in to the tracked end credits. Harrison also did this propulsive gem by Goldsmith recently: Always amazing to see the scores from these master composers, and find out the notes are simpler than you think—or I think, anyway. (I’m not very good!)

Would You Believe the Internet Is Full of Weirdos
I read the Scriptshadow blog, and I’m not always sure why. Today he had a mega-rant about The Secret Agent , which is 98% fresh at Rotten Tomatoes . This is somebody who charges like $500 for script consultations. I would really take all these script gurus’ advice with a very large heap of salt.

All right, here we go! We’ve added listings for D through K titles from Jeanne Jones’ collection. Also, there are several hundred titles (all letters of the alphabet) from two other collectors. Here is a spreadsheet of the inventory as of this morning , which you can use to browse and make notes, then order at www.FSMCDs.com . Goldsmith Posters
We are on track for our next CD sale list tomorrow, Tuesday, 3/31/26, at 10AM Pacific and 1PM Eastern. In addition to Jeanne Jones CDs D through K titles, we have a few hundred CDs (all letters of the alphabet) from two other sellers. And I am putting the two Jerry Goldsmith posters from our Kickstarter back on the market. The donor whose package included them offered them back to me to sell on consignment, to raise more funds for our website (which is still in need of work!)

Tuesday Sale
We are on track for our next listings from the Jeanne Jones collection to go live Tuesday, 3/31/26, at 10AM Pacific / 1PM Eastern. Here is a picture of my filthy keyboard to prove it. I actually bought a new keyboard a couple of years ago, but didn’t like the feel of it. I am used to my old crappy one! We have processed the D through I titles, and I’m presently in the Js and should finish the Ks in time for Tuesday. I continue to be impressed by the depth and breadth of Jeann

Star Wars 1980
I am showing the Star Wars films to one of my daughters (she asked). I don’t want to go blow by blow, but it’s an interesting experience. Especially given that she’s never seen them, it’s a chance to “view them with new eyes.” The first twenty minutes of The Empire Strikes Back reminded me of that halcyon period of Star Wars fandom. At the time, I hadn’t even seen Star Wars —I was three in 1977—but I knew the story from the Storybook, comic books, toys, “movie on record” a

Data Entry
Our next CD sale listings go live on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 10AM Pacific / 1PM Eastern. We are making progress going through the Jeanne Jones collection. I am presently typing up the G titles, and hope to get deeper into the alphabet over the weekend. We are also making progress getting into office space so I can get 10,000+ CDs out of my house! Thanks!

Farewell to Ted Nichols
Ted Nichols has died at the age of 97. Here’s the Hollywood Reporter’s obituary . He was the music director at Hanna-Barbera from 1964 to 1972—so it was actually Nichols, and not Hoyt Curtin, who wrote those fantastic, jazzy action-adventure themes that I used to love on Saturday morning reruns. Another one of my faves: And, of course... How I wanted to do a CD of this material! But we ran out of time at Warner Bros. NOTE: Strangely, the YouTube embeds are not loading right n

FSM Contributors—Thank You!
Above: With Dennis Schmidt in April 2006. Dennis very kindly compiled the FSM index for us, which we’ve consistently used ever since. An important MEA CULPA today to all our peeps in FSM land. The new Best of FSM book we compiled ( available worldwide from Amazon ) was a huge challenge for a variety of reasons—namely, making a book out of 35 years’ worth of content, and then locating all the files, doing clean-up/editorial, etc. One of the things I was worried about—so much s
