I was pleased to see the reaction to yesterday’s announcement about our imminent Kickstarter to record early James Horner TV movie scores. Yes, A Few Days at Weasel Creek will be on there! I appreciate the message board conversation —I’m reading it!

Time to commit ourselves to our next Kickstarter, which I am planning now: A recording of previously unreleased James Horner TV movie scores from the early 1980s! That’s right, it’s FSM’s first recording project, in conjunction with Leigh Phillips, whose work I admire so much, and the fine folks at Neumation Music who are invaluable with the music research and prep. Can you guess the three scores we’re looking at? I am building the campaign now.

As I wrote before, I’ve been rewatching the Star Wars films by showing one of my daughters (she asked to see them). We got to the sequels and at one point she asked, “Do these movies make you angry?” I think she was responding to my grumpy answer to one of her questions about who was who and what was what. I think the only fair thing to say is that there are some things that disappoint me, and probably disappoint most fans, mostly having to do with the change of directors an

What a time to be alive! A quintessential John Williams 1970s disaster/cue faithfully transcribed and performed on piano by Harrison Ingemarson: Always loved this piece, recycled in to the tracked end credits. Harrison also did this propulsive gem by Goldsmith recently: Always amazing to see the scores from these master composers, and find out the notes are simpler than you think—or I think, anyway. (I’m not very good!)

We are on track for our next CD sale list tomorrow, Tuesday, 3/31/26, at 10AM Pacific and 1PM Eastern. In addition to Jeanne Jones CDs D through K titles, we have a few hundred CDs (all letters of the alphabet) from two other sellers. And I am putting the two Jerry Goldsmith posters from our Kickstarter back on the market. The donor whose package included them offered them back to me to sell on consignment, to raise more funds for our website (which is still in need of work!)

Ted Nichols has died at the age of 97. Here’s the Hollywood Reporter’s obituary . He was the music director at Hanna-Barbera from 1964 to 1972—so it was actually Nichols, and not Hoyt Curtin, who wrote those fantastic, jazzy action-adventure themes that I used to love on Saturday morning reruns. As I type the listings for Jeanne Jones’ collection, I am encountering price tags from our legendary soundtrack past...Jeanne sure got around! Footlight Records in lower Manhattan was mindblowing for a soundtrack collector in the 1980s and ’90s. Their phone number is still burned into my memory. This was before the Internet, so there was no IMDB or discogs. They stocked out-of-print and import LPs and CDs and you’d flip through the racks and discover things you always wanted
